STARS Bursary Awards

PURPOSE        HiVelo supports the development of promising young cyclists in the North of Scotland.  A £500 STARS bursary will be awarded to a rider that the Trustees consider has demonstrated outstanding performance or potential in cycling competition. 

CRITERIA         The award is open to any rider with BC membership, aged 14-17 from any cycling discipline.  Nominations can be made to HiVelo by any individual, SCNorth affiliated club or association, subject to appropriate parental consent being in place.  A summary of their recent performances and key cycling objectives for the next two years should also be supplied.  Riders must declare the source and value of any existing sponsorship arrangements that are in place. The Trustees selection at any stage will be final.

USES                STARS awards are intended to help the recipient meet essential expenses in progressing towards the next level.  For example, they can help defray race meet travel/ accommodation, sports clothing, cycle equipment or specialist coaching support.  Recipients will be required to give some occasional feedback to HiVelo, demonstrating how the financial support is benefiting them.

TIMING           Four awards shall be presented over the calendar year. Nominations should be submitted to hiveloadmin@btinternet.com

PUBLICITY       Successful STARS will be expected to provide information on request about their cycling history and future ambitions. This information will be used to inform any award and may be published on the HiVelo website.
